Heyy loves, my name is Tara (birth: Tashara Collins). I am a self-taught abstract artist, from Richmond, Virginia. Melanated families have been negatively affected tremendously by societal norms that are simply unnatural. I intend for my creations to empower and inspire melanated children, especially young girls to be their most authentic self, heal and grow beyond limitations.

 

Growing up I never felt like I fit in anywhere, even in the "black" communities I felt out of place. I often felt alone and misunderstood. I grew up in a very restricted and abusive environment where I had no idea of self-love. After high school I moved far away from home for college, to find myself and begin my healing journey from past trauma and this is when I began to create the most.

 

The true path to freedom is knowing thyself, loving thyself and following your own path to truth. This is a reminder to never conform to the box of this world and to never lose faith in yourself or what the most high can do in your life. My creations will tell my story, the stories of the ancient ones, reflect the state of the world, and will inspire the next generation to share their unique light with the world unapologetically.

I wish us all the best on our journeys, its OKAY to choose your happiness, peace, joy, and freedom over the outside world. You have the ability to rewrite your story at any moment and change your destiny. We should never stay the same we should always be changing, growing and working toward the greater good of all. All you had to do was ask, keep your faith and the most high will come through for you. Infiltrate the vision, because your dreams, gifts and talents are valid! Stop procrastinating and know that all things will work out in your favor no matter the circumstance!
